If you are like me, and you love photography, I am sure that you have come across situations where you have taken a photo under the most suitable lighting and you are satisfied, if not proud about your result. You may have shared the photograph with the hashtag #nofilter (or NoFilter) to proudly state that the given photograph was shared without any filter and sometimes, even without any editing.
Generative AI is becoming an integral part of our lives. We see its usage growing across all the sectors. Despite some initial resistance, more and more companies are exploring and integrating some of the well-known, often open-source, generative AI solutions. There is no doubt, if used carefully, these solutions are helping in testing some creative ideas, which would have otherwise taken hours, or even months.
Photo editing or manipulating software have been around a while. Some of the commonly found features like changing the contrast or brightness, adjusting the colors, filters are now available as default features or applications on mobile phones and some of these have even been integrated to the camera settings. Despite the availability of these solutions, there are times where you feel like using and testing the manual mode and learning to capture the moment without filters. Even if you know that the photograph can be further improved, you feel like sharing the photograph to a wider photography community without any edits. It's perfect for you because it is your inherent creativity, with its own flaws and imperfections.
I often wonder whether this will also be the future of using Generative AI. Yes, there are a lot of advantages of using Generative AI. The resulting articles may be flawless, without any typos, without any grammatical mistakes, demonstrating a perfect flow of thoughts and arguments. But, don't we humans love imperfections? Don't we love human effort or genuine human creativity? We may easily or painstakingly find errors in some human works of art. But isn't that the beauty of human endeavour?
This article was (proudly) written without the aid of any AI based tools, and without even grammar correction tools. Hence, I use the hashtag NoGenAI or #NoGenAI. It may have grammatical errors or typos. The flow of thoughts may not be perfect. However, these are my thoughts, probably imperfect, but they do come from my soul.
To err is human, to forgive divine.
